Gainesville High School students have been getting meals delivered to them through online ordering apps, much to Mr. Beech’s disdain.
Since Gainesville’s opening in 2021, new rules and regulations have been put into place every year. Because GHS isa brand-new school, Administrators didn’t quite know what the needs of the students, teachers, faculty and staff were, so they blindly dove in with minimal regulations.
As the years have gone by, Mr. Beech, our principal, has been sending out weekly emails to everyone in the school, as well as parents. In these emails, he discusses any school news and new rules he is putting into place. One point in these “Cardinal Connections” emails has remained constant; discussing the ban of meal deliveries on school grounds.
Mr. Beech has made it extremely clear that using online ordering apps such as GrubHub, UberEats and DoorDash is strictly prohibited on school grounds, even though many students (and even some teachers) disregard this rule.
It is simply a safety hazard to have deliveries made to the school, because an unauthorized person will come onto school grounds and may even try to make their way into the building to deliver the meal. The receptionists in the front lobby have turned down many attempts for delivery drivers to drop off a meal, which is unfair to them. as they wasted their gas money and some delivery apps make you pay once your food arrives, which eliminates the tip the driver would have received.
This regulation here at GHS will most likely continue to be enforced, despite the lack of cooperation from students.
