While the underclassmen, joyously, worked on their PSATs; the senior class of 2023 was found running through DC before their SAT Day on the 26th. The seniors were placed into groups, with each allowed to travel freely around the designated areas of DC.
The students were required to meet in the grey commons at 7:30am to check in and get their shirts. Each charter bus was set to leave at 8:00am in hopes of arriving in DC around 9:00am. Upon arrival at DC, each of the groups separated from one another and split to go on their own paths with their chaperones.
Some groups went around and explored the lines of food trucks and famous deli shops. As for my group, we decided to test out one of DC’s many sandwich shops.
In addition to visiting local food establishments, many of the groups took it upon themselves to walk through many of the DC museums. However, we were still required to stay within the borders our chaperone had previously established. This included most of the Smithsonian museums, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the National Gallery of Art.
After each group finished their ventures, they were assigned to meet back at the Washington Monument at 12:45 for a group photo and departure back to the buses.
While some people might have been upset that the trip was only to DC, the majority of the students stated that they had an amazing time. Students were happy they could just cruise along with their friends in a new atmosphere. Not having to take the PSAT might have been a small factor in the enjoyment of this trip from the seniors.
