Gainesville High School decided to hold its first ever talent show on December 1, 2023. The show had diverse types of talents being performed, everything ranging from singing to bass guitar solos. The third act was a wonderful guitar solo by senior Sophia Vidallo.
Vidallo chose to do the song Fallen Down from the hit video game, Undertale. Vidallo had the whole audience in a chokehold. You could feel the passion and precision through her performance.
“I chose to do the song because I felt it was the song, I was most confident to play,” Vidallo stated.
It takes a lot of courage to perform in front of all those people. It is almost like you are sharing a piece of your soul with the audience when you play, and it is a very vulnerable place to be in. While Vidallo was nervous, she executed her music beautifully.
“Honestly, I wanted to cry. I was so nervous playing in front of people, but when I finally got going it felt natural.” Vidallo said.
Vidallo has been playing guitar since the sixth grade. Music is a way to express thoughts and feelings that you might not be able to properly express through simply talking.
“When I play, I am able to clearly express feelings that I cannot usually talk about in person.” Vidallo said.
If you did not get the chance to come to the talent show, I really recommend taking the time to go to the next one. It is amazing to see all the talent that your fellow classmates have that nobody knows about. Congratulations to all the students who participated in the show, you all did great.
