Artificial intelligence is working its way into everyone’s lives, especially in the classroom. Students have been using artificial intelligence (AI) to break down challenging topics, suggest better answers in assignments and offer research ideas. This use of AI has sparked a new debate on whether AI should be used more or restricted.
Students and teachers both understand the ease of using AI tools to help complete work. AI is being used to help complete assignments, make understanding topics easier, and quicker research. It’s speculated that ~75% of students use or have used AI to help with school assignments. Many students see AI as a helpful “crutch” to ensure their work is completed accurately and to the best of their ability. Not everyone is enthusiastic, some teachers and administrators believe that AI in school would fuel academic dishonesty among assignments, projects, and tests. There is a fear that students can become too reliant on it and use it improperly to shortcut schoolwork.
It’s true that AI can be used to improve learning environments with quick research and accurate answers but recent fears of misuse of artificial intelligence cause any integration of it in school districts to come to a halt.
