Field Hockey at Gainesville High School is competitive, teamwork reliant, and dedicated. Kallie Rustin, a field hockey player and student at Gainesville High School, said,
“The team is doing well this season and has been working well together. We have worked hard to create team traditions and strive to accomplish our goals.”
This season will be exciting for the Gainesville field hockey team. One of their most important traditions has recently started.
Kallie explains,
“We just started this new thing where we all get into a huddle, and we say one thing about the person to the right that we are proud of.”
She emphasized how wholesome it is to hear everyone’s answers. It is moments like these that are what really bring everyone together and unite on a team. It brings confidence to the team before stepping onto the field.
Kallie recalls many highlights so far from this season, but the one that stood out to her the most was when they beat Battlefield earlier in the season. As this game stood out as a big achievement, not all games have had the same outcome.
“The toughest game would have to be Patriot because the stakes were really high and we really wanted to win, but I think we kind of fell apart as a team a little bit.”
Despite this game, the team as a whole is determined to beat Patriot when they face them again this season.
“And we’re gonna win,” Kallie states.
Field hockey is a sport at Gainesville that is exciting for the players to be apart of. Everyone on the team has supported one another through tough times and amazing times. Kallie’s experience on this team is one that she holds close to her heart. As she is a senior, she keeps in mind how important this season is to her. Overall, Kallie’s experience shows the enjoy of being on a school sports team, the victories, the challenges, and balancing school and field hockey. Field hockey at Gainesville High School is an experience you get no where else, and Kallie will never forget all the memories made on this team.
