Gainesville V.S. OP

It is a warm night at Osbourn Park High school, and the Gainesville Cardinals are hyped up after winning their first varsity level football game on September first. Defensive coordinator Van Graves gave his post-game speech to the team.

“You get your first varsity victory one time and that’s tonight. Make smart decisions but enjoy it. You don’t go to sleep early[tonight] I’m telling you, will remember tonight forever.” Graves said.

The Cardinals had lost a week before, 42-7, in their first ever varsity game. The only score came from Junior receiver Aidan Macclafferty. This game was a different story. Macclafferty scored 3 times on 5 receptions for 174 yards. Also joined by sophomore running back, Koven Smith scored 4 times with 323 all-purpose yards. Senior wide receiver James Kennedy also caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Josh Barido. Barido threw for 248 yards and got 5 touchdowns and going 9/11 passing. The Cardinal’s offense was not the only one rolling on their 54-28 win, The Cardinal’s defense was hot from the start with sophomore Michael Ramirez, corner, getting an interception in the first half along with Jimmy Parish, getting an interception. The Cardinals are a young team with a lot of young talent. The future is bright for the new team in town.
