A Slamming Success

For the second time in GHS history, students gathered in the library for the annual poetry slam.

“Slam poetry is when you speak it, we can hear the way the words sound and we can hear the meanings in each word.” said Sophomore Maira Amin.

Amin organized both this year’s and last year’s poetry slam where students were able to take to the podium and share their own original works. This year had many stand-out performances including ones from students Allison Hillis, Melany Chinchilla España and even Maira Amin herself.

If you are interested in poetry, keep your eyes peeled for the next slam and maybe even a club in the upcoming school year.
