On March 3, 2023, anime fans flocked to theaters to watch Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village. Directed by Haruo Sotoza and released by the animation studio, Ufotable, the anime tie-in movie follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado and his little sister Nezuko, picking up where the anime left off with the two fighting powerful demons and overcoming their own weaknesses.

The movie adopted an episodic format, with each chunk of time ending with a lengthy credit scroll and beginning with an intro reminiscent of the anime. Unfortunately, this did break the immersion after it happened a couple times, making the storytelling feel choppy.

The animation itself was smooth and well done and the fight scenes were fast-paced and effortless. The story was also very faithful to the manga, keeping the same plotlines and character designs while still taking the appropriate creative liberties that only elevated the content as opposed to hurting it.

Overall, the movie was an enjoyable watch for prior and new fans of Demon Slayer and they are anxious for more content.
