The new cellphone policy has been introduced. This change is because of the Order 33 that
Governor Glenn Youngkin is attempting to pass in January of next year. This would add a
hallway and lunchroom restriction to the new cell phone policy. Students are of a similar mind
when it comes to the matter: think it’s pointless and unhelpful. Junior Liliana Anderson
believes the new policy to be redundant and unhelpful to students.
“I think it’s pointless because it’s not doing anything. At all. I don’t think it helps the students
in any way, shape or form,” Anderson said.
Some students, like Sophomore Madylin Tan, I find the new policy to be a bit stressful and
that it only serves to make students want their phones more. “It’s also kind of stressful and only
makes students want their phones more,” Tan said.
And other students, like Freshman Zander Nemec, think that the possible lunchroom and
hallway phone restriction is unnecessary.
“Really, what are you going to do in the hallways or in lunch that’s harmful?” Nemec said.
In short, students don’t like the new cell phone policy, or the Order 33 that’s going through and
they think its pointless, unhelpful, and unnecessary.
