On March 16th, a tornado warning was issued for Northern Virginia. This warning meant that possibly and isolated tornado with intense winds could be formed from a severe thunderstorm. For Gainesville High School, we had a 2-hour early dismissal to ensure that students got home safely and were not in school during the possible formation and movement of a tornado. During 4th period, a tornado warning was announced. Students were escorted to their assigned shelter place, that being the hallway for some students and their own classrooms for others. Students stayed in their assigned shelter places for about 15 minutes, before resuming class time.
