Recently it has been quite common to see the same celebrities everywhere in media. I am tired of seeing the same five celebrities being in every newly-released movie. Yes, these celebrities are talented and they’re great actors, but I miss seeing fresh faces in Hollywood, such as people that are trying to start their career in the entertainment industry. Some celebrities I’m tired of seeing everywhere include Jenna Ortega. While she’s a great, beautiful actress, I don’t want to see her on every streaming platform. Another one would be Jacob Elordi. Again, he is a great actor but since he was in the film, “The Kissing Booth”, he has been everywhere since then.
I truly believe seeing new faces in media matters so much. The people who are trying to start their career and get out there into the world are struggling so much because no matter how much they audition, the people who have already made a name for themselves will always get the part. I don’t think the issue is the casting directors, because they know the bigger names they get in the movie, the more money the movie will make. It’s just Hollywood has stopped producing films that are memorable, with celebrities who are known for talent and not just how attractive they are. An actor I would love to see in more movies would have to be Eliza Scanlen, I’ve only ever seen her in “Little Women”, but she was amazing when she played Beth and I would love to see her in more.
An example of a movie that was popular because of the director and actors is “Oppenheimer”. This movie became largely popular because it was directed by one of the most famous directors in the world, Christopher Nolan. Not only was it directed by Nolan, it also had actors like Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon. This movie got so much attention and success because of the cast list, names people recognize. It makes me wonder if the movie would be as successful as it was if it was directed by someone else with smaller, less famous actors?
