The 2023 homecoming dance at Gainesville High School was a night full of glitz, glamour and good times. The theme for the second annual homecoming was casino royale. Houses of cards were stacked on every table, painted poker chips were scattered around the venue and there was a cutout of Elvis himself to welcome students at the door. Over 1,200 tickets total were sold both online and in person, making this year’s homecoming dance the largest dance in school history.

“My favorite part of homecoming was being able to let go of stress and have fun with my friends,” senior Hailey Morlan said.

After a spirit week packed with schoolwide events, followed by a pep rally and a football game against John Champe high school on Friday the 15th, the homecoming dance was a well-received conclusion to the school’s second ever homecoming season.

“There was a lot of hype leading up to it. It felt different from last year, and I definitely think that there was a lot more school spirit,” Morlan said.

Homecoming 2022 at Gainesville High School was a success at every stage, the only thing left to ask now is how it will be outdone next year.
