The Grammys have been one of the most prestigious music award ceremonies that artists could win for over 65 years. Starting in 1959, the Grammys would be held once a year to recognize the best artists of the year, with many different awards regarding performances, albums, singles, music videos, and more. This year, the Grammys were on February 1st, with many young and rising musicians taking the stage to perform songs, receive awards and announce winners. Here’s what some students around Gainesville High School have been saying about who they think the best new artist of the year should have been.
Although Olivia Dean won the award, many people around Gainesville High School have different opinions on who they think should have won the award, such as Rod Wave, Sabrina Carpenter, and Bad Bunny. “Rod Wave definitely should’ve won,” Junior Arnav Gautam said. This opinion was contested by junior Braeden Flohrs, who said: ”I think Sabrina Carpenter had a really good year.”
