UFC 294, the card of the year, has been flipped upside down with the main event between LW champion Islam Makhachev and Charles Olivera. 

Charles Olivera had to drop out because of an eyebrow gash on his right eye, and, due to intense sparring in preparation for the fight. Dana White was not pleased with Charles Olivera’s fight camp.  

“they didn’t call us (the ufc)”. White said. 

His replacement, Alexander Volkanovski, is a man who almost beat Makhachev in their last meeting. 

The card otherwise is still intact, although, rumors of Paulo Costa pulling out of his fight are becoming more apparent. 

Costa has been dealing with an elbow injury which could very much take him out of the fight with dominant UFC newcomer Khamzat Chimaev who’s coming off a decision win against Gilbert Burns. This card, which was dominated by Brazilians and Russians, is now running into problems. 

As always though UFC 294 should still be one of the best cards this year with LHW Johnny Walker facing off against Magomed Ankalaev. 

The biggest story of the night though will still be whether Volk can become one of the very few people in UFC history to become a double champ.

 Even with the pull of Charles, this card will be one of the best of this year.
